Optician And Optometrist Are Not The Same

PETALING JAYA: Not many are aware about the difference between optician and optometrist, said the Association of Malaysian Optometrists.

Its president Dr Chung Kah Meng said the term “optometry” was widely used, and this has caused many people to be confused between the job scope of opticians and optometrists.

Compact Hygiene, the manufacturer, R&D and Intellectual property owner of Lens2, was founded in 2003 by a team of contact lens users who once infected by eye disease due to improper contact lens maintenance and care. After round of studies on lifestyle of contact lens users (who are so busy) and steps to compliance recommended by eye-care practitioners, we found that there is a gap that prevent users from complying. Therefore, we started the project of designing a contact lens tool that minimize users' involvement and prevention against microbes. Finally, Lens2 is born.

Why Lens2 was designed these way?

We designed Lens2 to comply to lifestyle of contact lens users not for the shake of technology innovation. We send sms to remind you to change lens case every 3 months because we ourselves also tend to forget. We build lens2 using antibacterial material because we also need protection against microbes which cannot be seen by naked eyes. We build Lens2 so small and travel convenience because we ourselves also hate to bring bulky multi purpose solution during travel. We provide Lens2 holder to wear without using finger because we always find it difficult to find a hygiene public toilet when shopping or working. In short, Lens2 is built to save ourselves and now yours from hassle while complying to stringent advices of eye-care practitioners

How to use Lens 2

1. Take out contact lens using finger

2. Take out lens basket from cup

3. Put your right eyes contact lens into top compartment of the basket

4. Put your left contact lens into bottom compartment of the basket

5. Put the basket back to the cup and fill in Multi Purpose Solution until fully submerge.

Insert the lens case back to the cleaning slot and close the cap properly

7. Press START button once to initiate cleaning. It will stop automatically in 3 minutes

8. After cleaning, you should change to new solution before soaking contact lens overnight in lens case

RABUN warna sebenarnya bukanlah istilah tepat bagi pesakit yang memiliki persepsi berbeza terhadap warna. Berbanding mereka yang berpenglihatan normal, dunia ‘penderita’ ini tidaklah berwarna hitam putih seakan siaran televisyen lama seperti tanggapan kebanyakan orang.

Sebaliknya, Ketua Jabatan Optometri, Fakulti Sains Kesihatan Bersekutu, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Profesor Madya Dr. Haliza Abdul Mutalib berkata, jenis dan tahap keseriusan defek warna adalah berbeza daripada seorang individu kepada individu yang lain.

Katarak – kelegapan dalam
 mata yang menyebabkan penglihatan kabur

Katarak – kelegapan dalam kanta mata yang menyebabkan penglihatan kabur.

AFAKIA adalah satu keadaan di mana mata telah kehilangan kanta kristalin yang asal (ketiadaan kanta mata) melalui pembedahan disebabkan oleh katarak (kanta kristalin berkabut).

Ia boleh berpunca sejak lahir, trauma ataupun bila bayi mempunyai penyakit sistemik. Kebiasaannya, jika dikesan semasa lahir, ia dikenali sebagai katarak kongenital.

Katarak kongenital merupakan opasti atau kekabutan pada kanta kristalin yang boleh menghalang penglihatan. Ia boleh mengakibatkan kekaburan penglihatan yang nyata ataupun secara total.
